At the Conference, held July 4-6, 2017 in Graz, with the theme “towards a smart hyperconnected era of efficient and sustainable logistics, supply chains and transportation”, we were learned that hacker attacks towards the system are nothing but criminal activities.

We were also told that when the transport system is moving towards a smart hyperconnected era, and the digitalisation is main key driver, it will be most important to have solutions for:

  • Digital waste, which already is a problem. How to handle all the remaining data that virtually explodes and which always needs more memory and constantly exposes us to security risks,
  • Support programs like “Cognitive computing” which are coming into the industry. Programs where the actors get help with solutions and conclusions, as well as the prediction of logistics and mobility needs. They need authentic and non-corrupt data.
  • Block Chain technology introduction in the transport business models, and understand new safety requirements effects.
  • Different effects on the transport system, when Internet of Things plus Artificial Intelligence gives us the Internet of Links. (IoT + Al = IoL).
  • The GDPR impact on Block Chain solutions within the Physical Internet. It was said that there are no effects due to the fact that relevant data are not personal and that the transactions take place between people who do not know each other but who trust each other as partners.

Risks of Supply Chains need to be considered more strongly within the scope of proactive Risks Management, meaning that if we cannot get a grip on data security, the opportunities of innovations in logistics, transports and mobility area will be limited.

Actors: CV OEMs, Transporters, logistics, service providers, Telecom, city planners Institutes and Universities among others.
